It's Thursday! Today's Tip: Invitations

So you've set the date for your wedding and now it's time to tell people!  Of course you've told everyone on Facebook already, but let's say you want to be a little more traditional for your wedding.

Save-the-date cards are a great idea, especially if you're getting married during a time when people might be on vacation, the summer or holidays, or you have a lot of out-of-town guests you'd like to invite.  Save-the-dates can go out at any time now.  You can literally send them as soon as you have secured your date with your venue.  However, typically these clever little notes should go out 6-9 months before your wedding date.  So get creative with your save the dates!  Here are a few of my favorite examples.

Get it?  ;-)

Now it's time for your wedding invitations - this tip can be used for invitations to any event.  This is one of my favorite things that I tell people....are you ready?  Your invitation is the first impression you give of your event.  An invitation is meant to be informational of course.  But it is the first look you're giving all of your guests at your day - the style, the feel, the colors, the theme, etc.  Your invitation can tell people where to go, what to expect, how to dress....and more!

They truly set the stage for your event, so don't just think "they'll get thrown out so I'll just get anything".  It's like getting all dressed up to go out and then forgetting to brush your hair!  Or baking a delicious cake and not frosting it.

And just because invitations are so important to this planner, doesn't mean they have to be expensive.  Sure you can use my friend Deb at Yours Truly Invitations and have custom invitations created.  Or you can scour Pinterest for idea upon idea until you're totally overwhelmed.  Or you can call me and I can help you design the perfect invitation and possibly your next DIY project!  So remember.....

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Happy Planning!
